Summer Project Updates

Update 06/11/2022

We will have a new parking area starting December 2022 that will be located on a new trail taking Trail 105F off Canaan Hill Rd at EX 7 down to near Quimbys, from there the trail will continue on Forest Lake Rd as it has been to the Lake View Store. The new trail will be in the wood line about 50 to 100 metres in. This area gets good snow amounts and parking in the area is hard to find. This will be good especially late season when lower elevations start to lose snow cover.

A section of Trail 105 near Cowan Rd was improved by removing large rocks from the trail and graded where the trail was somewhat washed out.

We also submitted a few grant requests to Vast for other trail improvements mostly on sections of Trail 105. 2 bridges we need to replace stringers due to rot and hopefully will be able to reconfigure the "Spa Sign" sharp turn between EX 19 and EX 505. From EX 505 down to Rt 114 we hope to improve the ice situation that's developed the past few years and regrade some of the hill.

There will be a small reroute of Trail 96 between Hudson Rd and EX 18. New landowner has asked us to move the trail due to new construction of a residence. We'll be working with the landowner to accommodate.

We attended the NEK Heritage Land meeting last month where the Land Management Companies and State of VT Foresters gave an update on upcoming planned projects and logging operations. We will not have Sable Mountain one more season. We anticipate having this back open Dec 2023. We also are hopeful all of Trail 97 and 97A will be open Dec 2023. East Branch EX 10 to EX 111 will be open. There may be another trail impact potential but as of now we do not know when so as we get into fall we will know better and share if anything further develops. Also maybe a new trail to be announced for December 2023.

There will be a new junction at the trail going to April's Maple, EX 612 and April's trail is now Trail 103F1.

Reminder ATVs are not allowed on snowmobile trails unless they are also a VASA designated trail, open town roads, landowners own land or landowners who give written permission to others to ride. A few landowners are having issues with illegal riding so please ride where legal.

We are awaiting our new club merchandise and as soon as we have that ready we will let you all know .

Drag and groomer maintenence and repairs will be completed by late summer.

Enjoy the summer season and we are due for a much better winter
